Shannondale Springs Wildlife Management Area is a West Virginia Department of Natural Resources facility where hunting is allowed. It's a big 1,361 acres along the Shenandoah River and easily accessed off Mission Road, a stone's throw west of Mountain Lake Club.
Visit wvdnr.gov for hunting and trapping dates and regulations. Depending on the date, you can even hunt a bear, along with deer, mourning dove, turkey, waterfowl, raccoons and woodcock. Trappers can try their hand at raccoon, opossums, red fox, gray fox, beaver and mink. (You can also trap skunk if you really want to.) Fishing in the Shenandoah for rock bass, smallmouth bass, panfish and channel catfish is almost as much fun as fishing in Mountain Lake Club's lake ~ but by all accounts, far less safe.
